Rubbish Every Year

Rubbish made by R6 per Year

The total number of rubbish R6 made every year is 16 760. Chippie packets, fruit peels and cores are the most rubbish made. It is awful that chippie packets are the most rubbish made because it is not biodegradable.

Rubbish made by 9 Classes per Year

The total of 9 classes’s rubbish, 150 840 is a large amount of rubbish! Thats about how many rubbish PBS made every year. That is so much rubbish that goes in the landfill.

Yummy

Never use the word YUMMY, our teacher said. It doesn’t mean a thing! Try… delightful, pleasant, delicious, tempting, mouthwatering, tasty, appetizing, flavourful, juicy– the choice is as long as a string! But please, never use the word YUMMY, it just doesn’t mean a thing!

The Greenhouse Effect

The Earth is getting hotter by emmision trapping the heat and buncing it back to Earth.  Emmision is producted by vehicles, farm animals and factories.  If icebergs (Northpole, Southpole) melts by the heat caused by emmision, little islands will get covered by water.

Holiday Reading Report

During the holidays the year seven and eight students did a program called Holiday Reading.  We needed to read three novels at home, and choose an activity to do when we finished reading the novels.  We did it so we could get better at our reading, writing and other subjects.

The activities available are set up in a Symbaloo, made by teachers of both the classes, Room 6 and 9.  Some of the activities Included Character photo, Radical Reading, Get active, Glorious Food, Setting, Character Portrait, Rewrite the Ending, New Cover and choose your own.  It is really simple and easy to do so it saves the student’s time.

I did Glorious food, Choose your own and Setting.  I used Google draw for my Setting activity, using shapes, lines, curves and scribble.  It was really hard to do.  Some of the things were hard to color because the line didn’t match up, so I drew it again and linked it up.  The main colors are green, white and red, because I think that the place I’m drawing is an Italian restaurant.

When the activity is finished, we posted it onto our blogs.  We need to include the book’s name and the author and illustrator’s name too.  Afterward the teachers commented on our post, then we commented back..

Holiday Reading was kind of fun because you can do things like drawing and cooking.  Some of the students didn’t achieve the goal of three books, some didn’t even do one.  I felt like my reading had gone up a level, and as a bonus we get prizes too.

Biodegradable?

Biodegradable?

If something is biodegradable it will break down into the Earth.

These things take 1 year to break down:
  • Woolen Socks
  • Banana Skin
  • Plywood
These things take 5 years to break down:
  • Plastic milk cartons
  • Leather Clothing
  • Egg Tray
Non biodegradable things do not break down.

These 10 things are not biodegradable and should be recycled.

  • Styrofoam
  • Plastic
  • Metals
  • Rubber
  • Aluminium
  • Glass
  • CD & DVD
  • Nappy
  • Tyre
  • Cable

Xtramaths

I am now on Subtraction 2s.  I think subtraction is harder than multiplication and division.

That was Summer

Have you ever smelled summer?
Sure you have.
Remember that time when you were window shopping
in a night market
or trying all the delightful food
and looking at all the alluring accessories?
Remember the ice cream’s scent
and the refreshing smell of mint?
That was summer.

Have you ever heard summer?
Sure you have.
Remember that time when you relaxed on your chair
or were just chilling on the balcony
and you heard the croaking of the cicadas?
Remember how you tried to catch them
but they’re silenced?
That was summer.

Have you ever felt summer?
Sure you have.
Remember that time when you are betting with you friend
or just feel like a challenge
and you tried swimming in a river?
Remember how you felt so freezing and cold
but you still stayed in the river?
That was summer.

Have you ever tasted summer?
Sure you have.
Remember that time when you are clenching an ice cream
or rummaging through the fridge looking for popsicles,
and how satisfying it is when you took a lick?
Remember how nice and cool the popsicles are
and the ice cream?
That was summer.

Have you ever felt summer?
Sure you have.
Remember that time when you came out of the house
waiting for the rain to stop
and caught a glimpse at the muddy and watery puddle
the rain had created?
That was summer.

I'm getting closer to subtraction 2s.  Only got 6 more to go!

Algebra Game

Today we played the Algebra Game.  To play you need substitution to answer the question.  It was easy because I know my times tables and square.
