Holiday Reading Report

During the holidays the year seven and eight students did a program called Holiday Reading.  We needed to read three novels at home, and choose an activity to do when we finished reading the novels.  We did it so we could get better at our reading, writing and other subjects.

The activities available are set up in a Symbaloo, made by teachers of both the classes, Room 6 and 9.  Some of the activities Included Character photo, Radical Reading, Get active, Glorious Food, Setting, Character Portrait, Rewrite the Ending, New Cover and choose your own.  It is really simple and easy to do so it saves the student’s time.

I did Glorious food, Choose your own and Setting.  I used Google draw for my Setting activity, using shapes, lines, curves and scribble.  It was really hard to do.  Some of the things were hard to color because the line didn’t match up, so I drew it again and linked it up.  The main colors are green, white and red, because I think that the place I’m drawing is an Italian restaurant.

When the activity is finished, we posted it onto our blogs.  We need to include the book’s name and the author and illustrator’s name too.  Afterward the teachers commented on our post, then we commented back..

Holiday Reading was kind of fun because you can do things like drawing and cooking.  Some of the students didn’t achieve the goal of three books, some didn’t even do one.  I felt like my reading had gone up a level, and as a bonus we get prizes too.
