Three Free Maths Games

Rich task for this week is to find three maths games, say what it teaches us, and the link to it.

Room 5 and 6 Comparison Graph

We worked with Room 5 to compare statistics about ourselves.  Then we made it into a graph that compares the information we gathered.  My partner was Tim, and we made a chart about pupil's parents that are born overseas.

Connective

Nana and Poppa lived in the countryside, but Nana disliked living in the countryside. One day, she and Poppa headed over to visit us in the city. Later, she didn’t want to return home after she came to our house. Poppa had to go home alone, and fetch her the next day. Poppa chatted to mum and they decided to let nana stay in the city. Soon, they sold their old countryside house and came to live with us. It took very long to settle in, but it was worth it. I was really glad that they came to live with us.

We worked in a group to make the short story sound better. We added time connectives, descriptive words, and replaced boring words with interesting words to it more fascinating.

Identity Survey

This is a survey we made with Mrs. Paton.  It is about learning more about other people in my class, and we send the form to each student in Room 6.  We will use this information to make a Google Sheets later.

Mihi

This is the mihi I wrote about myself.  I need to remember all the words, and next week everyone in the class will be tested if they know their mihi.

3D Hand Art

1. Trace you hand with a pencil.(NOT VIVID)
2. Draw straight, even lines with vivid(If you want to you can do pencil first) in the background. Not on the hand.
3. Connect the lines with an arc over the space of the hand.  Don't do it too arched, or too straight.
4. Your end results should look like the picture, but without colour.
5. Choose two colours, and colour it in switching the colours every line.
6. Shade the colours to make the picture look 3D.

We made this piece of art to add to the Class Treaty.

Onomatopoeia Writing

Tssssssss. I heard the sound from my room, three metres away.  I rushed to the kitchen.  It’s eight in the morning, and I'm preparing for school.  There was smoke everywhere, and more, coming from the microwave.  It’s still going.  I quickly cancelled it, and opened the microwave door.  More smoke came out, this time more darker.  It was then I recalled I was heating up garlic bread, and there it was, inside the microwave, was a piece of coal-black piece of bread on a badly burnt plate.

I quickly took the garlic bread and plate out, and stuffed the bread into the rubbish bin.  The plate was burnt in places, and there are even huge pimple-like bubbles on the surface.  I left it on the counter, not knowing what to do with it.  The smoke is clearing out, but there are still a lot of it in the room.  Luckily it isn’t going to the living room.  Then my mum came into the room.

First, she asked me what happened.  I told her how I pressed the 10 minutes button instead of the 10 seconds button.  She was very angry with me, but at least the microwave isn't broken.  She open the air vent, and threw the plate into the rubbish bin.  My mum said that she’ll deal with me when I got home from school, since it was nearly 8:15.  I suddenly remembered that there’s school today.  I left the cleaning up to my mum, and went to school.

Compared to other times, she wasn't as angry when I came home.  I did some dishes and laundry, then it was all OK.  The loss was a plate and some bread.  But when you open the microwave, it still smelt of burnt wood.

We learnt to start a recount with an onomatopoeia.

ICC Cricket World Cup - Australia vs. England

Australia won by 111 runs. 9 players from Australia and 10 players from England were out. the overall of Australia is 50, the overall of England is 41.5

My Buddy

This is my buddy in room 2.  Her name is Makailah.  She likes pink, and her favourte sport is soccer.  We are going to read together in the future.

Collaborative Art

We made a huge piece of art using little squares, each containing a quarter of a circle.  Each person in my class made 2 pieces, and then we put it together.  We measured the quarter circles using compasses, and colored it in using pastels.

Treaty Of Waitangi

We learnt about the Treaty of Waitangi and how it helped NZ.

Confidence

It is important to have confidence because if you don't, you'll never learn a new skill because you'll be too scared to try it.

Rm6 2015

Today is my first day at school as a year 8. Nothing has changed except our teacher, and a few more new students. I feel a mixture of anxiety and excitement, and I hope not to lose stationary. My goal is to master shading with pencil and finish the LOTR book before the term ends. I would like to make new friends and make more blog posts.
