Thanks for posting your very entertaining slideshow called 'Christmas Keys.' I particularly liked the list of reasons for not living in the North Pole. Murderous polar bears would also dissuade me from living up north as well!
My dad is an outdoor education teacher in Canada and he actually travels up to the Arctic circle sometimes to trek and tramp. He loves it but he has to take a bear whistle with him when he goes in case he comes across an animal. The whistle makes a very high pitched squealing noise that is supposed to scare the bears and make them run away!
Fortunately, we live in New Zealand where it is currently warm and there are no bears to be found! If you are interested, however, in learning more about places like the Arctic and Canada, please join the Summer Learning Journey. The website for the programme is https://sites.google.com/site/summerlearningjourney/welcome. When you go to the site you can click on the 'Weekly Activities' tab and this will take you to a screen where you can choose 'Week 1.' There are a number of fun activities to complete in the Week 1 file. When you complete an activity you can blog about it and earn points. At the end of the summer the students with the most points will earn prizes. It's pretty fun! I will also monitor your blogspot and provide feedback and comments on your work. It will be a great way to practice your skills and make sure that you're all ready for high school next month.
Please do consider logging into the Summer Learning Journey site to participate. We'd love to have you join the journey!
It's Rachel and I am sending you this message as a friendly reminder that the summer blogging project (Summer Learning Journey) is currently underway. It is a great way for you to practice your reading and your writing.
The programme has been running for two weeks and is about to head into the final week (Week 3). There are over 20 fun activities in the programme and you can complete as many as you wish. Each activity is worth points and the points will be added up at the end of the summer. Students with the most points will win prizes. All participants will also earn a badge and a certificate.
I will be checking your blog spot every day up to and including Tuesday 26 January (the last day of the blogging programme) to see if you have participated.
If you would like to join the programme and receive lots of comments and feedback, please log onto the Summer Learning Journey website: https://sites.google.com/site/summerlearningjourney/home-1, register and then click on the 'Weekly Activities' tab. You will likely want to start with 'Week 1.' During week 1 you will be invited to choose a country to travel to, buy an airline ticket, watch the All Blacks perform a cool safety video, pack your suitcase, and review a good book for the airplane ride!
A number of students from your school are currently participating in the programme and we're all having a great time. If you'd like to be one of them, please log on and blog today!
Hi Mengchun! Your slideshow 'Christmas Key'was really interesting! It made me understand more about Christmas and it made me laugh and smile at how creative you are to make this slideshow :) I liked the slide where you told us about the pros and cons about Santa losing weight. In my opinion, I agree with the Cons of Santa losing weight because he should continue the tradition of him being a big sized Santa haha :D Here in Malaysia we do celebrate Christmas too and in December, Christmas decorations are lit and Malaysia turns into a beautiful country with Christmas decorations! I really enjoyed watching your slideshow and keep up the good work and creativity! :)
Good morning Mengchun!
